I’ve always been a bit of an aquatic or floral type of girl when it comes to perfume, you’ll know what I mean when you check out my top 5 favourite perfumes of 2013. 😉
It’s amazing how your mood can be influenced by the senses! A good scent is able to lift your spirits up, while something stinky might just make you feel ill. It’s also amazing how a scent can take you on a trip down memory lane. Of course, what smells good or bad is completely subjective to the individual…
So without further ado, I shall present you my top 5 favourite perfumes of the year! Mind you these are in no particular order, I just wear them depending on what I’m feeling at the time 😉
Marc Jacobs Daisy EDT
This was the first perfume I ever purchased back in 2009, and I use it sparingly because you only need a spritz or two for this floral-fruity scent to last all day.
I’ve worn this scent to several job interviews and I feel like it gives me a boost of confidence, making me feel sophisticated and pretty! I also remember wearing this on many nights out on the town, wreaking havoc with my friends until the wee hours of morning. It’s definitely my ‘special-occasion’ perfume and never fails to become a topic of conversation sometime during an event.
Vera Wang Lovestruck
I purchased this 50ml bottle of Vera Wang Lovestruck EDT as a set including shower gel and body lotion of the same scent at Cosmetics Fragrances Direct at Market City near Chinatown.
This is a sweet fruity-floral that I like to wear during the day. I found that it doesn’t last very long on me, so I always have to keep it in my bag. That kind of explains why the ribbon bow is actually looking quite sorry for itself It gets tossed around among my textbooks and toiletries bag a lot!
This is the sweetest scent I own thus far, and I don’t think I’d be able to take anything sweeter than this. And the packaging?! Just gorgeous <3
Issey Miyake L’Eau D’Issey Summer 2012
So it turns out that this is just a special edition bottle of Issey Miyake’s famous L’Eau D’Issey EDT. I had my eye on this one for yeaaaars before I actually had the money to buy it.
It’s a fresh, aquatic scent accentuated with juicy fruits and delicate roses. This has been one of my favourites since I bought it, and sacrifice precious bag space WILLINGLY to take this around with me even though you only need a spritz or two for this to work its magic on you all day.
It’s got that sexy-fresh punch that puts an extra spring in my step 😀 Ahh… I can’t describe how much I love this one, you’ll just have to go test them at your local department stores!
L’Occitane Pivoine Flora EDT
This is the scent that I wore everyday when I had just started going out with my boyfriend, so that is the period of time that I’ll always associate this scent with.
I’m on my second bottle now, and I don’t regret repurchasing it at all! It’s the perfect marriage of citrus and floral notes that I’m obsessed with. It’s a light scent that doesn’t make you feel sick from sillage, and totally wearable on a daily basis.
I don’t have a ‘signature scent’ but if I did… this would have to be the one for 2013.
Not to mention peonies are my favourite flowers! So much love in this little bottle 😀
LUSH Lust Solid Perfume
This is quite evidently the oddball of my top 5 favourite perfumes being the only solid of the bunch. I’ve been obsessed with Lust in the past few weeks, and it’s definitely earned it’s place in this list.
It’s the perfect mix of dirty jasmine, rose, ylang-ylang, sandalwood and vanilla that leaves me feeling sexy-cute (or cute-sexy, however you wanna put it)!
The weirdest thing is that it has a red tint to it that serves no real purposes.
I’ve actually already written a Lust solid review, so if you want to read more about it… go check it out!
So there you have it! My Top 5 favourite perfumes of 2013
What’s your current favourite scent? Leave me some names to try next time I head to the fragrance counters at the department store
