What do I wear to a sophisticated birthday dinner?

outfit for birthday

There are several pretty big events coming up early this year and I haven’t been going out very much so I’ve kind of lost touch with how to put together an outfit (properly).

I’ve always been just a t-shirt and jeans kind of girl but when I started my internship a little over a year ago, I expanded my wardrobe to include skirts and dresses. I still keep things simple with plain singlet tops with skirts and shorts and I keep accessorising to a minimum because I’m pretty picky when it comes to jewellery.

I’ll start with the list of items featured in the image in this post:

From left to right: Dress – Layla Contrast skater dress $79.99 AUD – Forever New, Cuff – Pave Pyramid skinny cuff $12.99 AUD – Diva, Shoes – Casanova $169.95 AUD – Tony Bianco, Clutch – Minnie clutch $29.99 AUD – Forever New.

I’ll be keeping the makeup pretty neutral too, with a little drama in the eyeshadow and a nude lip (on the hunt I go for a nude lip that isn’t deathly mod).

This outfit is for a birthday dinner somewhere in The Rocks, and then we’ll be proceeding to the soirée in the presidential suite of a luxury hotel in Circular Quay. Luckily it’s still a pretty intimate crowd, otherwise the introvert in me will be screaming ‘Nooooooo!’ if there are like a billion people to talk to. Lucky I’ll also be able to offer my boyfriend as speaker if I see people approaching us to talk. 😛

Three days until my birthday, and I don’t have any plans for it. Again, I think I’ll always just prefer quiet nights in, eating homemade dinners watching some movies and tv shows. 23 years old… HERE I COME!

Much love,
