The Me Time Tag

the me time tag

It was by pure chance that I’d stumbled across this tag (created by Essiebutton and amelialiana) on Dame de Rose, a blog worth checking out if you’re looking for more inspiration for natural beauty products.

I’m still looking for ways to make this beauty blog a bit more ‘personal’, so I thought it would be nice to take a break from the usual beauty posts and let my readers in on how I like to chill out introvert-style.

What do you like to watch or read during me time?

I always enjoy a good read on popular science, especially in psychology because our emotions and desires help form the basis of our decision making processes. I like reading on psychology not only because it helps me understand how and why others make decisions, but that knowledge also helps me gain insight into my own personality.

Otherwise, I love Sylvia Plath and Virginia Woolf who both harness a very similar style of writing, uniquely in the form of poetry and prose respectively. I feel a great deal of comfort in reading literature that’s highly relatable, knowing that I’m not alone in feeling empty at times.

And of course, there’s also frankie, peppermint and yen magazines for all the visual pleasures!

What do you wear during me time?

In winter, I practically live in my teddy bear onesie from Peter Alexander paired with fluffy red home boots.

When the weather is warmer, you’ll find me lounging around in my sports shorts from high school (yes, I still wear mine!) and a baggy t-shirt – usually stolen from my boyfriend’s shelf.

What are your favourite me time beauty products?

I am what most people would call ‘lazy’ when it comes to pampering myself, but on the odd day when I’m bothered I’ll jump through the shower, indulge my hair with a hair mask (because god knows how dead my hair is!) and slap on a face mask, and then I’ll carry on with whatever me time activities I fancy.

I think I have way too many lip balms than I care to admit, but they’re my biggest weakness! I don’t care if it’s me time or you time, it’s always time for lip balm 😀 …

Current favourite nail polish?

I rarely wear nail polish because it really annoys me when it chips. I’ll just save nail polish for special occasions, me thinks!

What do you eat or drink during me time?

I’m also lazy when it comes to eating because I always feel like I’m wasting time when I’m preparing food. So most of the time, I’ll whip up some vegemite and butter on toast, and top it off with some avocado.

Chris (boyfriend) and I also make iced tea every weekend so we can have a refreshing drink that’s not water whenever we feel like it. Other times, you’ll catch me with a sneaky glass of red… haha!

Current favourite candle?

Right now, I’m loving Glasshouse Fragrances’ Birds of a Feather Pink Sorbet candle. Not only does the pink glow of the jar give any room in the house a certain cheeriness, it also smells like summer!

Do you ever have outdoor me time?

When I have outdoor me time, you’re likely to find me sitting under a tree on a patch of lush green grass in a quiet park some place. If I really need to get away from everyone/everything, I’ll probably be at a library somewhere. I like the idea of wandering off and exploring Sydney on my own!

Would you ever go and watch a film alone?

Why the hell not?

Favourite online shop?

Right now, iHerb (affiliate link) for beauty and household products and ASOS for clothing. I like iHerb right now because I’m still finding cruelty-free brands to replace my current household cleaning products and it’s hard!

Anything to add? What else do you do during me time?

I like to reflect on everyday occurrences and then write them out on my personal blog. After all, writing is my emotional outlet of choice!
