Insecure people have to make excuses and put others down to feel confident. Confidence isn’t walking into a room with your nose in the air, and thinking you are better than everyone else, it’s walking into a room and not having to compare yourself to anyone in the first place.
In the month of July, I experienced a strange albeit comical occurrence that I don’t think normal people expect to observe in their lifetime unless it was in some really satirical romcom or a romance novel gone horribly wrong.
To say the least, I have never crossed paths with anyone this immature given they are a good couple of years my senior. None of my friends who are my age have gone to the extent that this person has to make themselves feel more important or ‘superior’.
Now I’m not sure if my expectations of other people are just too high, or if this person was just an outlier on the crazy-meter. But I guess I really have to give them credit for having so much time on their hands to fabricate so many details about others, particularly the ones that they know next to nothing about. But then, you’d also have to deduct marks for parts of their story where it goes back and forth, contradicting each other. FAIL!
The only conclusion we could come to was that this person was so insecure about themselves that they felt compelled to create a different reality in their heads. A reality of delusion, self-obsession and insecurity.
There’s no point in trying to reason with this sociopath because there’ll always be an elaborate explanation to justify themselves. And I guess I’m just not interested in hearing about their painted reality.
There’s nothing wrong with being insecure, but when you go to great lengths to stay in somebody’s life by contacting their current partners… then that’s messed up.
One of my besties commented on the whole situation: “A man is simple right? If he never says he loves you, then he doesn’t. Pretty simple to understand.”
I know, I know, there are always exceptions. But it’s pretty clear that this rule did not apply in their ‘relationship’, except maybe in her mind. (just lol)
