I’ve always hated products in aerosol cans, not just because they’re not so good for the environment but more so because of the shrouds of product that always envelope me, inducing me into a coughing fit every time.
So as I began transitioning into living completely cruelty-free, I knew I had to turn my back on those aerosol deodorants and search for a roll-on deodorant instead.
After doing a bit of research and a lot of browsing at Green Organics at the Metcentre in Wynyard, I ended up picking up Dr Hauschka’s Deodorant Fresh (which they’ve now renamed and is now called ‘Sage Deodorant’).
To be fair, I don’t sweat much unless I’m doing sports or I’m really nervous or if it’s a super hot day. But I do get a little stinky sometimes, and I find that this only happens when I’m wearing tops made from certain fabrics.
Dr. Hauschka’s Sage Deodorant is a light, creamy lotion containing sage and witch hazel and gently deodorises without clogging the pores of my precious ‘pits (haha). Who wants armpit pimples right? It was really difficult to capture the consistency of the product on camera so I’ve left that out of this post.
It takes a couple of minutes to dry onto the skin, and when it’s done drying it feels very slightly tacky but it’s nothing to make a big fuss about. I’d recommend letting it dry before dressing yourself if you’re going to be wearing tight fitting tops.
I can’t fault the packaging in any way either, being stock standard roll-on deodorant packaging. Though I must say that I love the beautiful, frosted glass bottle with the red and teal accents and the gold-lettered Dr. Hauschka logo.
Their deodorants come in two different scents; Rose and Sage. I opted for the Sage one because I didn’t want the Rose scent to clash with whatever scents I was wear, but in hindsight I probably should have gone for something scent-free 😛
The scent is pretty strong, so sometimes when I move my arms I’d get a good whiff of it. I haven’t had any trouble with it wearing out too quickly either!
It’s pretty difficult to review a deodorant because it’s such a personal item. So if you have any questions, please feel free to leave them in the comments section below!
