Cruelty-free make up of the Day #1

make up of the day

I’m feeling more and more anxious as I start this post off because like every other person in this world, I have insecurities about my face (and body, but that’s for another post). Plus I’ve never done this before!

I’ve suffered from milia since I can remember, a flat, button nose sits squarely in the middle of my face, and my eyebrows? Pfft. I won’t lie, I’m too lazy to tend to them on a regular basis.

But just because my face/body don’t live up to the society’s ‘beauty standards’ enforced through the unsolicited advice in the media, it doesn’t mean I should stop writing my beauty blog (trust me, I’ve already been told to give up on this “pathetic little blog”), nor does it mean I don’t have free reign over what I post on the internet!

Sorry, I went on a bit of a tangent there because I keep thinking about when I had to deal with Chris’ psycho ex and the nasty comments she left me. This is just a huge step for me since that whole debacle, but I really need to stop letting the comments of somebody I’ve never met affect me. It sucks.

Oh well, here goes!

It’s a simple look, really. Only because I’m no make up artist, and I have a lot of trouble getting both eyes to look the same!

Eyes

I started with a wash of ‘Vanish‘ up to the crease from Kat Von D’s Monarch Palette, then I added Papilio to the outer v, Entomology on the inner lid and brow bone, and finished it all off with Summerfly in the middle of the eyelids.

I then used Shadow box to tight-line my eyes because why not?

These pictures don’t do the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara any justice though :(

Lips

If you’re looking for a matte lip product that’s cruelty-free, check out Kat Von D’s Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks. They don’t dry out my lips at all! I’m wearing Bachelorette in this photo. It looks super pink in the tube, but it wears more red on my complexion.

Face

Foundation – NARS Sheer Glow in Santa Fe (NB. NARS is cruelty-free but owned by Shiseido who aren’t cruelty-free)

Concealer – Kat Von D Lock it Concealer

Blush – Rose Gold by Sleek MakeUP

Contour – Face Contour Kit in Light by Sleek MakeUP

So like.. that’s it! I’m open to constructive criticism if you so kindly wish to leave me some in the comments :)

P.S. I am seriously loving that lip colour!!! Go give them a swatch next time you’re at Sephora!

Much love,

This is such a pretty look, I love the lip colour. :) Also, I’m totally with you on the insecurities front, I’m too scared to blog a makeup look, I’m working on it, but good on you for doing it! You’ve done it super well :)

Hey! Thanks for your lovely comment :) And trust me when I say you’ll feel more confident about yourself when you do publish a makeup look on your blog – I’m looking forward to it!

You are beautiful! You sort of remind me of Anna Akana! Love the shade of red on you:). I totally understand your insecurities, after coming off the pill, my skin exploded in acne all over my jawline and cheeks and I was so depressed and did not want to show my face in public let alone my blog. I’m glad you have decided to show your face and hopefully I see more of it in the future ^^
