Today, I present you with my first ever Beauty Empties post! You’ll soon discover the brand or brands that I’ve really come to love in the past year or so, and will most likely continue to love in the years to come. So without further ado, let’s kick this post off!

I’m going back for seconds

Sukin Facial Moisturiser

Having tried out several different moisturisers in the past few years, I’m going to have to stick it out with Sukin on this one. It’s described as a lightweight formula on the site, but still does so well in hydrating the skin even during this harsh Winter weather in Sydney. I absolutely love the citrus-vanilla blend in scent with an ever so slight hint of rose hip oil too, which is not overpowering at all.  The creamy consistency on this one is perfect and at AU $9.95 a pop, it’s a highly affordable alternative to the KORA Organics facial moisturiser (sorry KORA!).

I’ve been through about 4 bottles already, 5 including the one that lives in the bathroom of my boyfriend’s humble abode. So you can only imagine how much love this moisturiser gets! If you’re looking into getting this one, you could check out the full Sukin Facial Moisturiser review for more information!

LUSH Retread Hair Conditioner

I’m onto my second tub of this hair conditioner already, and I’m positive they reformulated it recently and is a lot less runny. My second tub has a thicker consistency which makes it a lot easier to scoop out and apply to your strands whereas the first one was extremely difficult to use because it just slipped right through my fingers. This product leaves my hair smelling of cantaloupe melons with a hint of musk and orange flower. You have to rinse this one out really well because I find it can leave a bit of residue that appears greasy if you don’t.

Again, I’ve got my boyfriend hooked on this too… the only annoying thing about this is that he’ll ask me if his hair smells nice every time he uses it in the shower. This conditioner works in harmony with the next product in this post.

LUSH Squeaky Green Shampoo Bar

Yep! Another Lush product on the list. As mentioned previously, I’ve paired this one up with the Retread Hair Conditioner above as part of my hair care routine. Their scents are quite similar, but looking at the ingredients for this – it’s hard to put my finger on what it’s supposed to smell like.

This shampoo bar, like the Godiva Solid Shampoo & Conditioner, lathers surprisingly well despite it’s solid nature. Of course this is attributable to the foaming agent ‘sodium laureth sulfate’ that many people would frown upon Lush for including, but I’m fine with that because I feel it helps with cleaning my hair.

My only issue is that it has since shattered into tiny, tiny pieces which make it difficult to use especially when these bits dry and get stuck firmly to the aluminium tins from Lush. If anyone has any tips on preventing this, lemme know please!

LUSH Honey Trap Lip Balm

As a lip balm addict and hoarder, I think it says plenty about the product when I use up every last bit. I’m onto my second tin of it now, and this has been the one that I’ll grab for when rushing out the door. Possibly the best lip balm from Lush so far next to Lip Service – which was also reformulated recently so that the balm isn’t as solid as it used to be.

I won’t say too much about this balm now because you can find the detailed breakdown from the full review I wrote earlier this year.

I’ll pass on these, thanks

benefit fake up concealer

I wrote about this concealer previously and it was my holy grail concealer. You could say it still is, but that’s only until I find a cruelty-free alternative for it. This one served its purpose pretty well, with the moisturising vitamin E and apple seed extract exterior and the emollient concealer in the center. It worked well for my under eyes which tend to get really dry and flaky at times. It did leave a slight shine/gloss so I also had to set it with some powder.

I’m currently finishing my second tube of the benefit fake up concealer, but I’m going to have to break up with this one as I phase into living a more cruelty-free life despite it’s cute packaging and pretty impressive performance.

ECOCARE™ Facial Cleansing Wipes Organic with Apple with Honey

ecocare facial cleansing wipes

I thought I’d take a leap of faith from my holy grail facial wipes and try a new brand to change things up a bit. However, the ECOCARE cleansing wipes were too dry and the scent of apple a little too strong for my liking. There was a whole lot of tugging when using this to remove a simple eyeliner-mascara-concealer look at the end of the day. It promised to leave skin soft and nourished, but it was incomparable to the WotNot Facial Wipes that I was used to. I guess it may work better for girls with oilier skin, or just for use as a refreshing wipe in the Summer.

I wouldn’t get this again for make up removal unless they figure make the 100% certified organic cotton wipe to be a little softer and retain more moisture in the pack. But props to them for being cruelty-free as well as being certified organic and environment safe.

Soap & Glory HAND FOOD

soap and glory hand foodThis is more of a heavy duty hand cream which is suited to the person work in industries that require them to use their hands a lot. It could also be classified as a Winter hand cream when skin tends to be drier. This hand cream carries the Original Pink Soap & Glory scent which is described as “modern, fresh, fruity and citrus” and I simply adore it.

However, I’m not buying this one again because the formula is a bit on the heavy side for my skin type. But I’ll definitely be scoping out for other Soap & Glory products because they all sound pretty promising!

Again, props to Soap & Glory for being cruelty free!

LUSH Bubblegum Lip Scrub

Being my first lip scrub ever, I didn’t know what to expect from this one. It works well but costs AU $9.95, which sounds a little too hefty for 25g of product (in my opinion anyway).

I’ve since bought myself a few of the other flavours such as Santa’s from the Christmas collection, Popcorn and Mint Julips. I won’t be buying the Bubblegum one again because it smells a little too sweet for my liking. If you love the Snow Fairy scent, then this one is for you.

And that’s all folks! Have you tried any of the products mentioned above? Let me know your thoughts in the comments!

Much love,
